Electra Malfoy desperately wants Harry Potter's attention, so she insults him, snitches on him, and buys him enchanted winter gloves signed 'do not write back.' Harry notices nothing and apologises anyway. Pansy knows everything, Hermione keeps a dossier, and the Weasleys run a common room betting pool.

"'Potter, you clumsy oaf, take these charmed dragonhide mittens before your frostbitten fingers ruin our Potions average,' Electra snapped, thrusting a velvet package into his chest with enough force to knock him back. Harry blinked, opening the card. 'Did you write Do not write back in calligraphy?' 'It is standard correspondence etiquette for high nobility!' she shrieked, ears crimson."
